Homa Arkani
Born in 1983 in Tehran, Iran, Homa Arkani lives and woks in Brussels, Belgium.
With a MFA from KASK University in Gent, Belgium, Arkani’s artistic journey reflects profound socio-cultural concerns. Initially focusing on figurative paintings related to social issues, particularly those affecting women, Homa’s oeuvre is a testament to her personal journey as a woman and an artist, deeply influenced by luminaries such as Rumi, Peter Bruegel, Hieronymus Bosch, and Van Gogh.
Her monochromatic work draws parallels between the strength and resilience of women and the nurturing aspects of nature. Creating dreamlike landscapes that reminisce body shapes or female attributes, she playfully approaches reality until it becomes abstract.
