Thomas Mazzarella
Born in 1983, Thomas Mazzarella lives and works in Brussels, Belgium.
Born in 1983 in Charleroi, Belgium, Thomas Mazzarella live and works in Brussels. A man of few words, Mazzarella’s minimal paintings are like contemporary ex-voto objects that tell the story of common people, in pastel colors and set against video-game like worlds. Perspective is questioned, humor is unquestionable and curiosity is triggered. First a self-taught artist drawn to graffiti and street art, Thomas Mazzarella went on to study art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège.
From there on, he started painting the imaginary lives of tiny men, and while there is a naïve allure to his paintings, there is an undeniable undertone of satire, politics and social observance. Mazzarella’s works are in reputable private collections in Europe and is several institutional collections in Belgium.
